Embrace your passion for painting and journey with us into the heart of old Spain. Plein Air Artist Baron Wilson is offering a painting Workshop & Retreat planned around the beauty of springtime in the rustic and historic Extremadura region in western Spain. Your creativity will flow as you paint, surrounded by Roman ruins, medieval cities, picturesque castles, and antiquated villages.
The landscapes of this region are beautiful, with dry plains, luxuriant pastures, mountains, meadows, marshes, and rolling fields.
We will rendezvous in Madrid, then travel southwest to the Sierra de Gata and enjoy an enchanting week at Aqua et Oleum, a luxurious destination hotel halfway between Madrid and Lisbon. Originally an old olive oil mill, the property has been meticulously transformed into a true gem as a boutique hotel and art gallery situated within an olive grove and a vineyard on the outskirts of the village of Villamiel. All of this is complete with a winding brook.
An on-site world-class chef will create a variety of “Farm to Table” culinary delights from Aqua et Oleum’s private garden, along with the Extremadura region’s famous cheeses, cured hams, honey, cherries, wine, and beer.
Vegan and vegetarian options are available. You do not need to be an experienced Plein Air artist to participate in this workshop.
All levels of artists are welcome, as are non-painting companions or spouses.
